Jodie Lane presents: Finished your manuscript and not sure where to go next? Whether you're planning on being traditionally published or want to go independent, there are a few things that will help you get to the next stage on your author journey:

  • beta reading: where does it fit in the editing process? how to find beta readers and what you should ask for.

  • editing: different types of edits (structural/line), how much should it cost and where to find an editor that suits your genre.

  • proofreading: US/UK spelling, grammar and punctation

  • formatting: do you need a fancy program?

  • uploading your book to digital platforms

  • bonus content! covers and how to leverage them for your marketing

Queer, autistic nerd, Jodie Lane reads and writes science fantasy, dark comedy and YA time-travel adventure. She loves finding the quirky and odd in her everyday world, and is passionate about telling authentic stories that make people feel alive.

Jodie is an enthusiastic historian, combining her love of travel and adventure with fascinating stories from the past. Brisbane based, she studied a variety of modern history at the University of Queensland.

Her travels have taken her all over the world: she has lived and taught English in China and Romania, backpacked through Europe and South America, and holidayed in the Middle East, Central America, South East Asia, New Zealand and South Africa. She speaks basic Spanish as a second language and is learning German.

She is currently a member of the Brisbane Book Authors and the Queensland Writers Centre. You can contact her about Author Talks for libraries and schools.
