President’s News – March 2014
Hello Members and Friends
I trust your month has been one of achieving goals, both creative and personal. If you are needing some inspiration in that direction, I encourage you to attend our next meeting on March 15, where Niki Pearce will present an exciting workshop entitled, How to Make 2014 Your Best Year Yet. For details visit the website www.goldcoastwriters.org and follow the link.
I am very happy to report that the first two of our grant applications have been submitted, these being for equipment. Further grant applications and funding are being sourced, including two grants that will assist in funding our 25th anniversary and festival in 2015 – yes, we are already looking that far ahead! Leaves the head spinning a bit, coordinating two festivals at the same time, however with the fabulous efforts of Jeannie Barker, Keli Lenfield, Gary Ivory and other members of the committee, we are certainly making inroads. For more information on the 2014 festival visit www.goldcoastwritersfestival.com.au
The Gold Coast Writers Festival is a fantastic opportunity for authors to highlight their writing skills, businesses to become sponsors and be showcased, and community groups to become partners. Expression of interest forms are available on the above website and I can be contacted directly by any organisation or business wishing to participate, email: email@example.com
We enjoyed another great meeting on February 15, with a book launch by Nanette Clifton and a fabulous presentation by guest speaker, MaryAnne Leighton. Nanette shared some of her life experiences that led to the writing of her book and touched the hearts of the audience. MaryAnne enlightened us how writing can take you in unexpected directions in your life and work, then come full circle back to what you love most. In MaryAnn’s case this is working with horses. A huge thank you to both ladies.
An important reminder that the April meeting will be held on April 5, due to Easter falling on the third Saturday.
The April edition of the newsletter may not reach you before that meeting, but we will do our best. Many thanks to Keli Lenfield for taking on the role of Editor and to Jeannie Barker for all her assistance.
I look forward to seeing you at the March meeting or connecting via the next newsletter.
Wishing you a wonderfully creative month!
