President’s News – January 2014
Hello and a Happy New Year to all.
I wish you a fabulous 2014, filled with health and happiness.
There are many exciting projects ahead this year, not the least of which is the 2014 Gold Coast Writers Festival in June. With plans well underway, meetings are taking place to access the funding required for such an event. If you would like to assist in any way towards the organisation of the festival, please visit the website www.goldcoastwritersfestival.com.au to register your interest.
We will be holding the literary luncheon at the wonderful facilities of the Currumbin RSL and are liaising with community groups, businesses, councils and other organisations. It is our aim to continue building community partnerships as a major project of bringing together writers and a diversity of arts and cultural groups on the Gold Coast.
The main focus of our next meeting on January 18, is the opportunity for members to share their writing and experiences via the Open Mike, a very popular event. If you wish to participate, please let me know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, as places are filling fast. We look forward to hearing from fellow members as they share their work. Please note each presentation is limited to three minutes.
Many thanks to Keli Lenfield and Jeannie Barker for their assistance in getting out this newsletter, as well as attending meetings with me leading up to Christmas.
I encourage you to keep updated on all news and events by reading this newsletter, as well as registering on both websites www.goldcoastwritersfestival.com.au and www.goldcoastwriters.org.au. We will also have regular updates, along with other interesting information and links on both Facebook pages.
I look forward to seeing you at the meeting and connecting with you via the next edition.
Have a wonderfully creative month!
