Message from our Patron Kay Danes
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the committee for inviting me to become a patron of the GCWA. It is indeed an honour to be part of such a vibrant group of like-minded people devoted to developing their craft. The GCWA is an invaluable organisation and as stated in its mission: established to be a home for writers, a place to learn, a place to grow and a place to be heard. Writing is an art form that touches on all aspects of the human experience. It can raise awareness, a call to action, effect change and inspire. It is one of the most powerful forms of self-expression. It can take a person to an exotic travel destination without ever leaving the comfort of their home. It opens a whole new world to the reader and creates a place where nothing is impossible.
The GCWA’s committee is dedicated to providing a professional environment for writers to harness their creativity, exchange ideas, broaden their horizons and explore a range of opportunities that exist in the ever-changing world of publishing. I do hope you will enjoy being part of this premier association.
Message from our founder and patron, Mary Maclaren
A writer should know how to express feelings and emotions, but in regard to the success of Gold Coast Writers’ Association, words are sometimes inadequate. Between the scribbled idea at a local writing group’s meeting, to the extremely professional body we now have, twenty eventful years have elapsed.
Destiny may well have distanced me physically, but my heart and enthusiasm will always be there at every meeting and I wish each and every one of you great success during the next twenty years and as usual, Power to your Pens!
