At 12.30 p.m. Gary Ivory will take you  “Over The Mountain” where you’ll find answers to some questions you’ve always wanted to ask.

  • Hmm, I wonder what’s on the other side of the mountain?
  • Did our pioneers and those in other countries, try to imagine what lay ahead?
  • Have I ever taken the time to explore inside my own imagination to find creative insight?
  • Can I use the tools in my head to fossick around, to “tolerate” and “play”?

Gary’s workshop will test “mountaineer” skills, and raise the curtain to Thinking Tools for Making the Familiar Strange at 2.15 p.m. Guest Speaker, Dr. Karen Knight-Mudie will discuss ways to:

  • Discover how to use head tools for making the familiar, strange.
  • Learn to create extraordinary things from the mundane and ordinary.
  • Focus on “ways of doing” because the “doing” identifies and stipulates particular natural competencies (thinking tools) to be used as a means for discovery.
  • Notice how, why and what you are doing—avoid rushing for a result—
  • Slow Down!!

BEWARE!!

  • It can be emotionally traumatic to abandon the security of conventions in favour of the disorderly commonplace.
  • You’ve gotta burn to shine!
  • Thinking is hard work.
  • Toss your ego out with the bath water.
  • Embrace mistakes as treasure hunts.

Motto to Remember:

Discovery leads simultaneously to meaningful intellectual illumination and emotional excitement.

TOPIC: Dare to Dance With The Elephant

When you pour your energy and passion into writing a book, every knock back is naturally taken personally.

So stepping up to have a sales conversation can be daunting.  And there are some subjects that everyone dreads talking about.

Whatever it is, most people hope like crazy that their prospects won’t bring it up. Yet they know deep inside that the topic is unavoidable.

No matter how hard they try to dance around the elephant in the room and pretend it’s not there, it’s just a matter of time before someone asks about it. Then most people stumble through an inane response that has them losing credibility they have worked hard to establish.

Once you understand why people will or won’t buy from you, any feelings of personal doubt will disappear.

In this presentation you will discover the techniques to handle primary objections before they come up and learn to enjoy the sales conversation.

Guest Speaker BackgroundGraeme Stevenson

Published Author, Pilot, Artist & CEO of Colour In Your Life

Graeme Stevenson, CEO of Colour In Your Life, was born June 29th, 1958, in New South Wales, Australia. From a young age Graeme had a tremendous fascination with the world around him, and from this he began painting and studying animals. He began breeding Australian parrots, and in his teen years took up the ancient sport of falconry. As his interest in art began to grow, he used the birds that surrounded him – his pets – as subjects for his paintings.

After obtaining his pilot’s license, he began to explore the vast areas of Australia, photographing, sketching, and eventually painting the exotic animals of this land. His reputation as an artist began to grow and his one-man and two-man exhibitions were greatly successful. Graeme then began travelling to other parts of the world to study his subjects and to display his work. Africa, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Europe, U.K., U.S.A., Mexico, Canada, Alaska, the Middle East and Pacific Islands were some of the places to which he ventured, receiving offers from publishers who produced his works in limited edition.

In 1988 he was commissioned to produce all of the paintings for the book ‘The Atlas of Parrots‘, one of the largest editions of its size in the world. This book is displayed in the New York, Paris and London Natural History Museums.

Graeme eventually decided to turn his imagination and his art ability in a new direction. While living in both Australia and the United States, he was able to study the many varied animals of America and to produce a series of paintings that enabled him to explore different ideas and to present work that also has the ability to tell a story of the subjects he paints.

Graeme has appeared on the front cover of a number of U.S Art magazines. In 2000 he was voted by ‘U.S Art’ as one of the 25 Most Influential Artists to watch for in the coming decades. He was written up in International Artist as a ‘Master Artist’ for his time. As well as animals, Graeme also paints fantasy, romantic scenes of mother and child, political and social commentary pieces. Graeme has had many one and two man shows in galleries throughout the world and his work has been sought after by many companies such as:
