A Quiet Achiever
Behind the quiet and reserved exterior lies a wonderful sense of fun, a commitment to give 100% and a passion for the arts, in particular Philosophy.
Born and raised near York in the north of England, Carole inherited the wanderlust of her grandfather and travelled extensively, before settling in Australia in 1983. Her work took her to the corporate world of London and to Frankfurt, Germany, where she met her husband and their two daughters were born.
Reluctant to be placed in the spotlight, this quiet achiever has assisted on local committees since her move to the Gold Coast in 2000, including the Royal Queensland Art Society, Northern Rivers Orchestra and of course, the Gold Coast Writers’ Association, where she not only held the position of Membership Secretary for 5 years, but has always been willing to assist in any way.
Carole’s academic achievements are many, with a BA in Creative Writing & Philosophy, which brought her to the GCWA in 2005, and she is currently completing her Master of Arts in Philosophy at UQ in Brisbane.
Hostess extraordinaire, her dinner parties are a magnificent extravaganza and she juggles her many roles and social engagements as wife of the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, S.E. Queensland, with the high demands of her studies. Her haven is her beautiful home, set in the hills overlooking the southern Gold Coast, in the company of her two ‘girls’, Golden Retrievers, Dinah and Zoe.
Will she continue on to a Doctorate, or is it a book of her perspective on Philosophy that will follow? Only time will tell.
