The BIG Event
16th September 2017!
All Gold Coast Writers’ Association members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting. We hope that you will nominate for one of the many positions available. If you have some good ideas to bring to the association, feel free to join in. You could even make it official by joining the incoming committee? New people are always welcome as you bring new energy with a fresh approach.
The Annual General meeting is an important event for every organisation. It gives its members, the general public and the committee a broad overview of the organisation’s current directions. The meeting looks into the financial health and confirms the purpose of the group. It is also the time to revitalise the organisation through the official engagement of members into key elected positions.
Most importantly, we hope to make this a positive experience where our members go away firmly committed to the organisation and its goals.
Benefits of holding an Annual General Meeting
An annual general meeting will assist our organisation to:
- Comply with government regulations
Elections – Elect key office-bearers.
Presentation of Accounts – Show the annual accounts to the members in a standard format
Documentation – Present an annual report
- Be transparent
This is our opportunity to report on the results of our strategic plan.
- Communicate with members
The Annual General Meeting provides a good opportunity for the office bearers to interact with members.
- Raise awareness
In some cases the Annual General Meeting can be used to gain publicity for the organisation.
We hope you can join us at our next Annual General Meeting so you can help take the Gold Coast Writers’ Association forward into a positive future.
